The Greek Islands are on everyone’s bucket list. There are so many islands and choices when it comes to a trip like this, and luckily, I’ve provided you with everything you need to know!
BEST ISLANDS TO VISIT:
milos
In my opinion, this is the best greek island. It has everything: stunning beaches, amazing coastlines, and the food and people are excellent. Milos is getting more and more popular every year, so go now because it gets too crowded in the future!
Where is the best place to stay on Milos?
Cave Suites Milos is hands down the best place I have ever stayed… in my life. The location, accommodations, and service were unmatched, and it was definitely worth the price. If you can splurge on one place to stay during your Greek Islands trip, this place has to be the one!

naxos
This island is more of a family island that is quieter and has some of the best beaches in all of the Greek islands. If you aren’t into nightlife and rather relax by a beach all day, this is your place. The food on Naxos was also incredible, and since it is one of the most fertile greek islands, it had some of the best cheese and meats like beef that I have ever had!
Where is the best place to stay on Naxos?
Naxos Island Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. It was located steps away from the most gorgeous beach in Naxos, and they were very helpful with everything we needed. The restaurant and bar on the roof of the hotel has the best place to watch sunset and an excellent dinner as well. Highly recommend staying here for your trip to Naxos.
santorini, greece:
Everyone loves Santorini, but it is a crowded destination compared to other islands like Naxos and Milos. I personally think everyone should visit Santorini at least once in their lifetime because the views and scenery of the island was magical.
Where is the best place to stay on Santorini?
The Blue Dolphins Hotel had the most amazing view from our terrace. I loved the location as it was located perfectly in between two famous towns of Santorini, and they arranged all of our car transport as well. The only downside is the hotel doesn’t have a pool.

What to see in Santorini, Greece:
How to get to Santorini, Greece:
Flight to Athens —— Flight to Santorini: this is the best direct route to get to Santorini from the mainland.
If you are already on another Greek island, the best option is to book a ferry from the island you start on to Santorini. I highly recommend using FerryHopper to find the best ferry schedule for your trip.
BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT the greek islands:
September is most definitely the best month to visit the Greek islands. The sea is still very warm but there are fewer crowds and tourists. I went to Santorini in September and had no problems with the weather at all, it was beautiful and sunny every day. The only thing about September, especially at the end of the month, it can be a bit windy.
May is also another great month to visit Santorini, Greece before the peak season, but if you are planning to swim a lot in the ocean, know that the water can be a bit chilly still at that time of year.
Try to avoid visiting Santorini in June-August, as this is the peak season, and crowds can become suffocating in the heat.
TIPS + TRICKS when visiting the greek islands:
1) Bring cash! Cash is great for small shops and tipping
2) Bring some light jackets for boat tours or if the weather gets windy
3) Have your hotel call you a taxi or transfer (if you do it yourself, you could get scammed)
4) Rent a car in Milos and Naxos, but not Santorini
5) Bring a hat and sunglasses! The sun in Greece is no joke, and you will most definitely burn if you don’t bring the proper items to shade your face.
