Barcelona is a lively city with incredible sights, architecture, and mouth-watering food.
why barcelona is a perfect destination:
There are countless reasons why Barcelona needs to be added to your bucketlist. The city has so much to offer and I’m going to give you an overview of all of the best parts of this incredible city!
ARCHITECTURE
The architecture in Barcelona is some of the absolute best I have ever seen.
Best places to visit in Barcelona for amazing architecture:
La Sagrada Familia (my absolute favorite!)
Park Güell
Casa Milà
Casa Batlló
Cathedral of Barcelona
All of these sites are incredible in their own ways. My personal favorite architectural site was the La Sagrada Familia, and I can also say that La Sagrada Familia is actually my favorite site in all of Europe! Words cannot even describe the beauty of the design here. Some of my other favorites I mentioned are great to see as well, and they are all relatively close in location to each other so it makes it easier to see all of them!
delicious FOOD
Tapas and churros…. do I have to say more? Barcelona has some of my favorite food in Europe, and there are so many varieties of food that you can get.
Here are some of the food specialties in Barcelona that you must try:
Croquettes
Patatas Bravas
Bombas
Jamón
Pa Amb Tomaquet
Churros with chocolate dipping sauce
Paella
No matter what you try on this list, you will love it! My personal favorites were the patatas bravas, churros, and croquettes.
endless sites
Barcelona, out of all of the cities I had been to in Europe, definitely had the most sites to see. You could be in Barcelona for two weeks and not see all of the amazing sights. As I mentioned before, the architectural sites are unmatched in this city.
Here are some other incredible sites in the city of Barcelona you must add to your list:
Montjuïc National Palace
Montserrat
Barcelona Botanical Garden
Ciutadella Park
La Rambla
This is exactly why I recommend giving yourself ample time when visiting Barcelona, as there are so many great things to do and see!
BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT:
May to June: during this time are the best temperatures and the fewest amount of crowds. I visited Barcelona in April and the weather was a bit chilly and rainy (which is pretty rare for there).
TIPS + TRICKS:
1) Visit Barcelona for at least 4+ days, as there is so much to see!
2) Research the sites you are seeing before you go-- it will give you great insight into what you’re looking at if you don’t do a guided tour (which isn’t needed at most sites here).
3) Make sure to try all of the amazing foods the city has to offer.
4) Get a subway/metro card! This is the most effective way to get around the city
5) You must go inside the La Sagrada Familia, as this is the best site in all of Barcelona!
